Bladen County Hospital to cut ribbon on new MRI facility

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Valley Bladen County Hospital will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new MRI facility on Friday.
The hospital’s new MRI machine marks an upgrade from the mobile MRI service previously used, which was only available on a limited basis.
“Before, we had a mobile MRI truck that came twice a week,” Bladen Healthcare President Spencer Cummings said. “But our current demand exceeds that availability. With this new facility, patients won’t have to wait as long or travel to get an MRI right here in Elizabethtown.”
The MRI facility is located behind the hospital at the former site of Phillips Internal Medicine Practice, which Cape Fear Valley purchased in 2023.
The Siemens Magnetom Altea MRI machine can accommodate patients weighing up to 550 pounds.
“This MRI machine’s new technology also means that a patient’s MRI scan can be completed faster,” Cummings said. “We’re so excited to bring this to the community and expand this service.”
