Pedestrian killed in crash on Carolina Beach Road

*UPDATE* According to the state highway patrol, A 46-year-old man was crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle. The highway patrol has not released the victim’s name.
They say he’s lived in Wilmington for a while and was originally from Georgia. The highway patrol is trying to notify his next of kin. No charges will be filed against the driver.
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – A busy intersection in New Hanover County near Myrtle Grove was briefly closed due to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
It happened Tuesday night in the 5900 block of Carolina Beach Road, near the Sanders Road intersection.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, the driver remained on the scene.
No word yet on the identity of the pedestrian.
