Police: Man tells landlord he’s going to rob bank for rent

A federal complaint says 64-year-old Ronald Dufloth robbed a Wells Fargo bank near sands and Howard Hughes Parkway on January 10th. The court documents say two days before the robbery Dufloth told his apartment manager at the Siegel Suites that he was going to do the crime to pay his rent.

“No it’s not that expensive to rob — if you can’t afford to live here you should move,” said neighbor Anthony Cumberbatch.

Siegel Suites residents like Anthony Cumberbatch say such actions are unnecessary. The federal complaint goes on to say when Dufloth was in the bank he handed the teller a note reading he needed three thousand dollars all in one hundred dollar bills. Dufloth allegedly had a contraption with a red button that looked like an explosive. Some Siegel suites residents feel bad for Dufloth.

“I feel sorry for him. It is hard out here but he shouldn’t have done that,” said neighbor Kordell Jones.

Authorities say after reviewing surveillance images they were able to track down Dufloth to the Siegel Suites he lived at. After speaking with the apartment manager police found the 64-year-old in his room. An arrest was immediately made.

Cumberbatch said, “That’s something that is crazy and something I would never do that’s something wrong.”

Dufloth has pleaded not guilty. His trial is set for April 9th.
