WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Burgwin-Wright House announces that it is accepting diapers and other products for the annual Diaper Drive benefitting the Diaper Bank of North Carolina.

According to a press release, during the entire month of March, local residents are encouraged to bring donations of diapers, packaged baby
wipes, adult incontinence products, formula and other hygiene items to the Burgwin-Wright House.

This year’s high-priority needs are infant diapers (sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7), toddler pull ups (sizes 3T/4T and 4T/5T), tampons, adult pullups (diaper-style with tabs are not accepted) and bed pads.

Last year’s Diaper Drive was a resounding success that collected thousands of children’s diapers, adult incontinence products, wipes, feminine hygiene products and formula.

“Last year marked the most donations we have ever received for our annual Diaper Drive, enough to fill up the steps leading up to the front of the house,” museum director Christine Lamberton said. “It was a wonderful sight to see! But with the costs of everything on the rise, some of the most basic needs for families are out of their reach. Too often, diapers and other essentials are a privilege rather than a right. With that in mind, we encourage people to give what they can so our local neighbors will be able to breathe a little easier knowing their little ones and loved ones will be taken care of.”

The Diaper Drive accepts opened and unopened packs of diapers and pull-ups for children and adults. Baby wipes, pantyliners, diaper cream and formula are also accepted, but must be brand new and unopened. Tab or diaper-style adult products are not accepted at this time. Donations can be dropped off March 1-31 in the Burgwin-Wright House visitor center Monday through Saturday between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. It is located at 224 Market Street, at the corner of Third and Market Street in downtown Wilmington.
