Boiling Spring Lakes house fire under investigation, firefighters treated for minor injuries

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — Fire crews in Boiling Spring Lakes battled a fast-moving fire on North Shore Drive on Wednesday afternoon, bringing it under control with the help of multiple departments.
Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Rescue responded to the fire shortly after 2 p.m., with crews reporting one-third of the structure involved. Firefighters from Sunny Point, Bolivia Fire Department, Southport Fire Department, Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department, and Oak Island Fire Department provided mutual aid to contain the flames.
Fire crews say although the home sustained significant fire damage, they were able to save some belongings. As of late last night, the cause remained undetermined and is under investigation by Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Rescue and the Brunswick County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Two firefighters were evaluated for minor injuries on the scene but were cleared by EMS and returned to duty.
Crews later returned Wednesday night to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
