Trash cans relocated to street at Surf City beach accesses

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — You may notice something different at the beach in Surf City this summer.

The Town of Surf City is moving trash cans at public beach accesses.

Town Manager Larry Bergman said the town strives to take care of their beaches and the environment. In efforts to keep trash from being blown into the ocean and across the beaches, he said staff has relocated trash cans to the street side of the public beach accesses. This will also allow staff to service the trash cans more efficiently.

Bergman said new signs are being made and will be placed at each beach access on both sides reminding people where the trash cans are located.
