Allegiant serving three new routes to Myrtle Beach customers

Allegiant Air announced Wednesday they will be servicing three new seasonal routes into Myrtle Beach.

The now routes will fly to Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) from Flint, Mich., Louisville, Ky. and Nashville, Tenn.

Fares begin as low as $47 from Nashville, $52 from Louisville and $58 from Flint, according to a news release.

“We’re very excited to grow again in beautiful Myrtle Beach,” said Lukas Johnson, an Allegiant official, in the news release. “There is great demand for travel to the Grand Strand, and we’re sure that folks in these three cities will take advantage of our convenient, ultra-low cost, nonstop service to enjoy this sunny destination.”

The new routes are seasonal and will operate twice weekly, bringing the total number of Allegiant routes to MYR to 19.

“With today’s exciting announcement of Nashville, Louisville and Flint, Allegiant now offers nonstop air service from 19 airports to Myrtle Beach,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports for Horry County. “Over the last several years Allegiant has made a tremendous investment in our destination, deploying more and more aircraft while expanding significantly into our shoulder seasons. Allegiant is an outstanding partner, we can’t thank them enough for their continued confidence in the Myrtle Beach International Airport and the fantastic market it serves.”

These new flights should bring about 20,000 more visitors to the area, airport officials say.

Routes are detailed as follows:

  • Flint, Mich. via Bishop International Airport (FNT) – begins June 6, 2018
  • Louisville, Ky. via Louisville International Airport (SDF) – begins June 6, 2018
  • Nashville, Tenn. via Nashville International Airport (BNA) – begins June 8, 2018

“We are thrilled that Allegiant continues to expand their air service to Myrtle Beach,” said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “The addition of Nashville, Flint and Louisville will provide more people with fast, affordable nonstop service to Myrtle Beach where they’ll enjoy 60 miles of beaches, golf and endless entertainment. Growing air service will help us welcome more visitors to the Grand Strand, as we strive to reach our goal of 20 million annual visitors by 2020.”

“Allegiant’s decision to provide nonstop service from Nashville, Flint and Louisville will provide a boost to the spring golf season, allowing us to attract new players who otherwise wouldn’t have easy access to the area,” said Bill Golden, CEO of Golf Tourism Solutions. “The Allegiant flights will allow us to greatly expand our footprint in the Midwest, a hotbed for the game. These flights will open new doors for the Myrtle Beach golf community, and we are excited about the opportunity.”
