UNCW hosts Intercultural Festival
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday, the University of North Carolina Wilmington invited students, faculty, and the community to celebrate global cultures at the Intercultural Festival, held at the Burney Center.
The festival provided a unique opportunity for attendees to experience a wide array of cultural traditions and practices.
Participants were handed a “passport” to guide them on their cultural journey. From booth to booth, they explored a variety of exhibits, each offering stories, fun facts, and immersive insights into different cultures. The day featured everything from traditional dance performances to authentic international food, giving guests a taste of global flavors and cultural expression.
Sophomore students Ruby Williams and Zachary Shimp attended the festival and shared their thoughts on how the event made them feel more connected to the world. “Honestly, there’s a lot of food here and people just talking about their cultures, which is the main point!” said Zachary. “It definitely makes you want to travel more,” Ruby added, expressing how events like this inspire a greater curiosity about exploring different parts of the world.
