Wilmington man facing firearm charges following hit and run

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man was arrested after an alleged hit-and-run Sunday night.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, units were responding to a traffic crash in the 1800 block of Market Street when they learned that one of the drivers ran away.
The man was located near Wrightsville Avenue and Carolina Avenue.
While he was being detained, officers located ammunition and a concealed firearm. Daniel Mitchell, 30, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, felony carrying a concealed weapon—a gun, malicious conduct by a prisoner, no operator’s license, disorderly conduct, and hit and run.
He is being held at the NHSO Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond.
