Wilmington church decorates duffel bags for foster children

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One Wilmington church has partnered with an organization that tries to improve lives of foster children. Mission Wilmington came together for the second time to decorate and stuff sweet cases, a duffel bag, to donate to local children in the foster care system.

The Founding Pastor Dave Holt said this gives foster kids their own duffel bags instead of having a trash bag and lets them know they are loved and cared for. Dozens worked on the bags and wrote special messages on them.

“The most amazing thing was what the kids wrote. They wrote things like you are loved, faith, believe and so it was just inspirational messages to say hey you’re probably going through things they can’t even relate to. They’ve never experienced in their life, but because it was a kid to kid level, they’re like we want to know that you are loved,” Holt said.

They also filled the bags with a teddy bear, hygiene kits and blankets.
