Arbor Day celebrated with tree planting at Hoggard High School

WWAY NEWS — Today is Arbor Day for North Carolina. The City of Wilmington and the Wilmington Tree Commission celebrated by planting a tree at Hoggard High School.
A 15-year-old ginkgo tree was relocated from the old K-Mart and planted in front of the school, with help from Mayor Saffo who helped fill the base of the tree with dirt alongside the students.
While Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday of April, North Carolina typically celebrates to coincide with the best tree planting days in our area.
