Suspect surrenders after chase ends in crash near Cape Fear Memorial Bridge

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a chase Friday night that ended at the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.

A spokesperson from the sheriff’s office says the chase started near I-140 around 7:15 p.m. when the suspect refused to stop for a traffic stop.

Deputies chased the suspect before the car crashed at the base of the bridge. The suspect then surrendered without incident.

No other vehicles were involved and there were no injuries.

The suspect is in custody and will be charged with flee to elude as well as drug charges.
