2 people and dog unhurt as plane lands on Myrtle Beach road

A small plane had to make an emergency landing on International Drive near Highway 31 Friday afternoon.

The plane landed safely on the road and there are no reports of injuries, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

There were two people on board, as well as their dog.

The pilot told us that they were flying in from Pennsylvania when an oil pressure light came on. He said he then realized that the motor has “blown out” and the plane started losing altitude.

He and his wife looked for the best place to put the plane down and were able to coast in and safely land on the road.

The NTSB has to come in from Columbia to survey the scene before the plan can be moved. Those officials arrived at the scene at around 5:30 p.m., about four hours after the plane landed.

North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue and the Horry County Police Department were also called to the scene.

Traffic is not being re-routed, according to Horry County police.
