Police: Streaker arrested at middle school, blamed ‘bad mushrooms’

Upper Arlington police arrested Melvin Williams, 20, at Hastings Middle School Wednesday evening during halftime of the game. That’s after a half dozen calls came into 911 from people saying there was a man who was bloody, had stripped down to his boxers, and hopped the fence to run onto the field.

Prior to that, prosecutors said Williams broke into a home across the street and damaged four paintings and antiques worth up to $27,000.

Dash cam video obtained by ABC 6/FOX 28 of the arrest showed Williams struggling with officers as they tried to place him into their police car.

Williams faced a judge Friday on charges of assault and inducing panic. That’s when his attorney blamed “bad mushrooms” for the incident.

“He got ahold of some bad mushrooms. He doesn’t remember a single thing that’s happened,” said attorney Bob Krapenc to the judge.

The judge set a $50,000 bond in the case, which was posted that afternoon.
