Brunswick Wellness Coalition encouraging businesses to join ‘Count on Me NC’ campaign
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — As more restaurants, hotels, attractions and shops reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic, the “Count On Me NC” initiative aims to help the owners of these establishments navigate all the health recommendations aimed at limiting exposure to the illness for employees and customers.
“It’s a voluntary public health initiative where businesses and the community come together to say we are going to go above and beyond for the health and safety of our community,” said Leigh Lane, executive director of the Brunswick Wellness Coalition.
Lane says its important for businesses to participate in this initiative.
“We are encouraging Brunswick Wellness Coalition partners and friends as well as Brunswick County businesses to participate so residents and visitors will know they have completed training and are committed to the safety of their patrons who are shopping or dining with them,” Lane said. “Participating businesses receive a logo for display to recognize their efforts.”
You will find a list of participating businesses at the Count On Me NC website. The initiative also encourages the general public to take part.
“There’s a guest pledge that consumers can take to support a safe and healthy environment by protecting yourself and others,” Lane said.
Some of the tips for customers include wearing a cloth face covering like a mask or scarf, waiting your turn by maintaining six feet of physical distance from others and wash your hands often with soap or water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer. You’ll find more tips here.
