Juvenile injured in alleged accidental shooting in Surf City
SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday, Surf City Police responded to reports of possible gunshot wound at Soundside Park.
Per a news release from the Town of Surf City, when officers arrived they located a juvenile victim with an apparent gunshot wound and immediately provided lifesaving measures.
The victim was transported to Novant Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
Following an investigation, Anthony Ippolito, 19, of Sneads Ferry, has been identified as the suspect.
He has been charged with the following:
- Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury
- Underage possession of alcohol
- Underage consumption of alcohol
