Myrtle Beach woman arrested after newborn baby tests positive for cocaine

A Myrtle Beach woman is charged with unlawful neglect of a child after her baby was born testing positive for cocaine, according to a Conway police report.

Catherine Rose Bonner, 29, of Myrtle Beach was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Tuesday morning.

Her arrest comes after, on April 18, an affiliate of the Department of Social Services told Conway police that Bonner gave birth on April 2 at Conway Medical Center and her baby tested positive for cocaine and a further metabolized version of cocaine, hydroxybenzoylecgonine, according to the police report.

A warrant was issued for Bonner and she turned herself in to Conway police on April 24.

The baby was placed into the care of a family member.
