Wilmington man arrested on drug charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man has been arrested on drug charges after a 2 month investigation from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Vice & Narcotics Division.

The sheriff’s office raided a house on 217 North 31st Street on Thursday, April 24th which led to the arrest of Phillip Bernard Devone.

According to the sheriff’s office, Detectives seized approximately 55 grams of fentanyl, crack cocaine, powder cocaine and methamphetamine, approximately 32 wax bags containing heroin/fentanyl, 1 stolen Glock .43 handgun, and 1 AK-47 Style Rifle. 

Devone was charged with the following:

  • Two (2) counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin
  • Four (4) counts of PWISD Schedule II (cocaine)
  • Four (4) counts of Manufacturing
  • Possession of a stolen handgun
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon

Devone is currently at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $1.5 million secure bond. Devone has prior convictions for Trafficking Cocaine and possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
