Wilmington city council to discuss gun violence resolution
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington city council will discuss a resolution tonight to officially recognize incidents of gun violence in the US and to acknowledge local students who have been outspoken about gun reform.
The resolution specifically names the school shooting in Parkland, Florida and the “March For Our Lives” movement that many survivors of the shooting have launched.
It says that the city council will be “empathetic to the sharing of concerns by our youth.”
The resolution states that the council “stands ready to listen to local students and citizens to make positive change on these and other issues facing our community.”
The meeting will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Wilmington City Hall.
