Man arrested after multi-division operation
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Narcotics Division teamed up to arrest a man on drug charges.
According to the sheriff’s office, they launched an investigation into Skylar Ray Long and performed a search warrant after they found a stolen dump trailer on his property.
Detectives found methamphetamine, a trafficking amount of fentanyl, and a firearm in the property. Long was not home at the time of the search.
On May 2nd, the sheriff’s office conducted an operation to capture Long. He was located on Waltz Lane off Honeyfield Road in the Lees Lake Community.
He attempted to run away but was quickly captured. At the time of his arrest, Long was found with methamphetamine and trafficking amounts of fentanyl.
He was transported to the Columbus County Detention Center, where he was processed and held without bond.
