Pender County customers encouraged to pay utility bills online following vendor shutdown

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Utilities is notifying customers of delays in utility bill delivery due to the sudden shutdown of its long-standing third-party billing vendor.
On May 9, the vendor, which had served Pender County for 15 years, unexpectedly ceased operations without prior notice. County officials said the abrupt closure was beyond their control and came without warning. The company’s billing services have since been transferred to a new, out-of-state provider.
In the meantime, customers can securely view and pay their utility bills online here.
Pender County Utilities staff are working quickly to establish communication with the new vendor and restore normal billing operations.
“This has understandably caused frustration for our customers, and resolving the issue is a top priority,” the department said in a statement Tuesday.
