City of Wilmington holds inaugural ‘Demo Day’ for all ages

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — On Thursday, the city of Wilmington held a demo day event outside of the Skyline Center in recognition of National Public Works Week.”

The public event was open to all ages and gave residents a first-hand look at how various city departments operate with heavy equipment.

Some of the areas of work featured include recycling and trash, stormwater management, parks and recreation and more.

Staff was also there to answer any questions people may have.

Public Works Director David Mayes says it’s a joy for city staff to share what they do with the public.

“This is just an opportunity for the public to come out, see what their tax dollars are invested in, and the equipment we need to do our jobs and interact with the folks who actually do that work,” he said.

This is the first demo day held in Wilmington. It will be an annual event moving forward.
