Carolina Beach Music Festival Marks 39th Year on the Sand

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) –The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce hosted the 39th annual Carolina Beach Music Festival over the weekend, drawing music fans to the sand for two days of live performances.

The event took place on the beach near the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. Town officials said the festival remains the longest-running beach music festival in the country that is still held directly on the beach.

Saturday’s performances featured traditional beach music acts, including The Tams, Band of Oz, and Jim Quick & Coastline. Sunday introduced a lineup with American pop and reggae influences, including national touring acts Tropidelic and Ballyhoo!

Music on Sunday began at 2 p.m., and nearby businesses saw a steady stream of festivalgoers throughout the day.

Patrick Finnan, an employee at Kings Beachwear, said he noticed an increase in foot traffic.

“Actually a big influx—they all flock usually to Britt’s Donuts, and then once they are done stuffing their face they come here. The festival was so loud I could hear it while I was working—like through the walls,” Finnan said.

The final performance of the weekend wrapped up around 6 p.m. Sunday with Tropidelic closing out the show.

Tickets were available at $35 for single-day admission or $59 for a two-day pass. Tent space reservations were also available for both days.
