Condos under construction at old King’s site in Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) —  More than two years after a fire destroyed a Wrightsville Beach store, we are learning more about what is being built in its place.

King’s Beachwear right next to Johnny Mercer’s pier went up in flames in April 2016.

The cause was never determined due to the damage from the fire.

Now the property is under construction, with 22 condos expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

Vance Young with Intracoastal Realty says there will be 11 buildings total, and the first phase should be finished in February.

There will also be a commercial building for a restaurant or retail store.
