CFPUA responds to multiple sanitary sewer spills in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — All the rain and the saturated ground has caused lots of sanitary sewer spills in Wilmington.

The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority released a statement saying crews responded to a number of incidents in the Burnt Mill Creek area Tuesday.

The spills were on Grady Avenue, 21st Street, Klein Road, 12th and Chestnut streets and at the Wallace Park Sand Box.

There was also a large spill on Market Street.

CFPUA estimates that 7,7000 gallons were discharged into Burnt Mill Creek.

Water samples have been taken and the spill has been reported to the NC Division of Water Quality.
