Whiteville man charged with drug trafficking

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Whiteville business owner was arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs.

James Frederick Hinson, 46, faces eight counts of trafficking opium or heroin, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, and three counts of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for a controlled substance.

Arrest warrants allege the Shipwrecked Seafood and Produce owner used the Whiteville store as a place to keep and sell oxycodone and that he sold the drug in late January and late February.

He is out of jail after paying enough of the $80,000 bond.
