Lightning strikes two homes on Carolina Beach Sunday

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) —  Violent early morning storms led to lightning strikes on several homes and even a boat on Carolina Beach.

WWAY was sent one image of a home along Georgia Avenue that town officials say was hit by lightning. In the image, Carolina Beach Fire was on scene responding to the fire.

Town  Mayor Joe Benson posted on social media this was one of two homes that were struck by lightning Sunday morning.

Town officials say a boat in the inlet was hit but no one was reportedly hurt in either of these cases.
