An Onslow County woman on trial for trying to castrate her ex-boyfriend was found not guilty on charges on Thursday.

WCTI reports Martinne Delavega was found not guilty in the case where she was accused of castrating her then-boyfriend by biting and permanently disfiguring his testicles. She had a self defense claim when she testified on Wednesday. The former boyfriend testified Tuesday. Jury selection began Monday.

Delavega was facing felony counts of malicious castration and assault causing serious bodily injury in connection with the September 2015 incident. She rejected a plea deal in October 2016.
