Disposed fireworks cause house fire in Wrightsville Beach
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Authorities responded to a house fire in Wrightsville Beach early Saturday morning that was caused by discarded fireworks.
A spokesperson for the town says first responders got the call around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning for a house fire in the 400 block of S Lumina Ave.
When they arrived, firefighters found fireworks that had been discarded in a trash can under the home ignited.
The ensuing fire caused significant damage to the home, but no surrounding homes were affected, and no one was injured.
Authorities remind people that you should always soak your fireworks in water before throwing them away—even if they’ve already gone off.
