Nearly 10,000 pills collected during Operation Medicine Cabinet
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Nearly 10,000 pills were dropped off from residents in the Southport area during Dosher Memorial Hospital’s semiannual Operation Medicine Cabinet Thursday.
The hospital says the number of participants is more than double from last year.
Area residents also dropped off more than 2,400 milliliters of narcotic liquids, according to a news release. Total weight of the discarded medications was 197 pounds.
One dozen Dosher employees, a Dosher board trustee, and staff from New Hanover
County Health Department, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and volunteers from the sheriff’s office collected the medications.
