Pender County Schools announce return dates for students and staff

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Schools have announced when students and staff will get back into the classroom following Hurricane Florence.

It’s been more than a month since schools have been closed.

According to a news release, staff will return to work on Thursday.

The school system says Heide Trask High, North Topsail Elementary, Rocky Point Elementary, Surf City Elementary, Surf City Middle, Topsail Elementary, Topsail Middle and Topsail High will reopen Monday for students.

Burgaw Elementary, Burgaw Middle, Cape Fear Elementary, Cape Fear Middle, Malpass Corner Elementary, Pender High, South Topsail Elementary, and West Pender Middle will open for students on Tuesday.

The announcement comes after Pender County Board of Education was able to secured $1,437,000 worth of contracts for mold remediation at five schools.
