Duplin County Animal Services: Stray dogs becoming a major problem

KENANSVILLE, NC (WNCT) — The Duplin County Animal Shelter says no dogs were euthanized Tuesday.

The shelter posted on Facebook saying almost every dog they had was out of time and there had been no interest.

The animal shelter in Kenansville said 13 dogs would have to be put down if no one adopted them but luckily not just 13 but 16 were adopted.

Supervisor Joe Newburn says this shelter usually stays at capacity which is 20 dogs.

Because the shelter is so small, and there isn’t enough space. They can only keep them 5 days.

The shelter takes to Facebook a lot, hoping to get people out to help.

Newburn says, being a small shelter it’s hard to get noticed but when they are, they’re grateful.
