Cape Fear Museum to host STEM event for superheroes


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Looking for a way to get your kids excited about science, technology, engineering and math?

The Cape Fear Museum of History and Science will be hosting a free event this Friday called Superhero Science Family Night.

Children will get to participate in a variety of activities including face painting, making a superhero cape, experimenting with krypto-slime, and learning about creatures from the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher and the Cape Fear Raptor Center.

According to Education Coordinator Amy Thornton, each activity is designed to encourage families to work together, spark curiosity and build enthusiasm for learning while introducing topics related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Kids and parents are encouraged to wear superhero costumes. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

If you’re hungry, food will be available for purchase. Poor Piggy’s food truck and Trolly Stop cart will be on-site and food will be available for purchase.

The Cape Fear Museum of History and Science is located at 814 Market Street in Wilmington. The event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
