19 years after unsolved Wilmington murder, two families still hope for justice
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wednesday marks 19 years since a Wilmington woman went missing and was found dead nearly two years later. Her family is still searching for justice.
Although Allison Jackson Foy went missing in Wilmington in 2006, her body wasn’t found until 2008 in a ditch off Carolina Beach Road.
Foy’s body was found next to the body of Angela Rothen who also went missing the year before.
Timothy Iannone was a suspect in the murder of both women, but was never charged. Iannone is currently serving 48 years in prison for a separate rape and kidnapping case.
Foy’s sister Lisa Valentino hopes people in the Cape Fear will take the day to remember her sister, and all missing people.
“There’s today in this country close to over 600,000 missing. It’s at record, epidemic levels, and in memory of Allison today, what my family and I would like to do is bring awareness to that number,” she said.
WWAY reached out to the office of District Attorney Jason Smith. His office said Smith has been in contact with the victims’ families and law enforcement, and that his office remains committed to uncovering the truth in both cold cases–and others like them.
Valentino also recommends volunteering at organizations like the CUE Center of Missing Persons in Wilmington. If you have any information about the murders of Foy or Rothen, please contact Wilmington police.
