New docu-series about pilots who helped fly supplies to Western NC to be filmed in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new docu-series produced by a Wilmington entertainment company will shine the spotlight on some of the unsung heroes who helped Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.
Just Do Good Entertainment will produce the series, Air Angels: Flight Helene, which highlights the stories of people who jumped into action to help after Helene hit in late September.
On Thursday afternoon, there was a meet-and-greet with some of the pilots featured in the series.
New Hanover County Commissioner LeAnn Pierce also presented certificates honoring the pilots for their actions during the event.
Executive producer Monty Hobbs and pilot Dr. Craig McCotter said it’s a great way to share these stories.
“When living in New Hanover County, we’ve seen the support and the love from Florence and everywhere else,” Hobbs said. “So it was our little way of being able to give back, not in a physical way, in a digital way, which leads to physical.”
“My story is about everybody else’s, because this was one of the few times that I got to be more of a, just a worker bee and part of the system, and it was fabulous,” McCotter said.
The series will be 5 episodes long and it will be available to stream next spring on several services, including Up Faith and Family.
