UNCW to conduct emergency alert test this week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW will conduct a full-volume test of its emergency notification system, UNCW Alert, at noon on Thursday.

According to a news release, the test will include the outdoor siren system and is part of routine efforts by the UNCW Office of Environmental Health and Safety, the UNCW Police Department, and the Office of University Relations.

Officials say these tests are conducted regularly to ensure the system is functioning properly and to help familiarize the campus community with emergency procedures.

University officials emphasize that no action is required from students, faculty, staff, or community members during the test.
