SBI investigating covert camera placed inside security office on CFCC campus

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The State Bureau of Investigations is looking into allegations that a covert camera was placed inside a security office at CFCC. 

A spokesperson for the SBI says the agency is investigating a camera that was placed inside a security office used by New Hanover County Sheriff’s Deputies. The covert camera was allegedly installed at an office at the college’s North Campus.  

The sheriff’s office also confirmed the investigation but was unable to provide more details. When asked about the investigation, a spokesperson for CFCC says cameras are usually only placed in common areas, and that it’s not practice to install cameras in individual, assigned office spaces.
