Highway Patrol investigating after vehicle ends up in Rice Creek

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The State Highway Patrol is investigating after a car ended up in Rice Creek near Winnabow Sunday evening.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office tells us they responded to a call just before 10:00 p.m. Sunday for a vehicle submerged off the boat ramp. Deputies alongside multiple rescue agencies including Winnabow fire and the Brunswick County Emergency Services responded.

This happened off the Rice Creek boat ramp along Gordon Lewis Drive. Fire officials and deputies on scene tell us the driver was unharmed.

The Highway Patrol was in route and will look into the cause of this accident.
