Thalian Association Community Theatre to host ‘Divine Divas’ concert
WILMINGTON, NC — The Thalian Association Community Theatre (TACT) will be hosting the third annual Divine Divas, a special two-night only concert next weekend.
“Divine Divas is benefit for She Rocks (Research Ovarian Cancer Knowledge Support) and TACT,” said TACT Executive Director Susan Habas. “Its an idea one of our veteran directors, Mike Thompson, came up with three years ago.”
All the Divine Divas, which are some of the best performers in Wilmington, will be doing a sing-off and for the first time this year there will be male performers, too.
“We have a youth choir that’s going to do something surprising and the songs are your favorite from radio, stage and screen.” Habas said. “We have a special Mo-town Mash-up to honor Beth Quinn, one of the She Rocks founders, that was her favorite, Mo-town.”
In 2017, the North Carolina General Assembly named TACT the official community theatre primarily because of the organization’s community outreach.
“She Rocks has raised three-quarters of a million dollars since 2014 and they have given 75% of that to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center for research and 25% were used for local support to anyone receiving treatment for any type of cancer at New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Zimmer Cancer Center,” Habas said.
Divine Divas will be presented on the 2nd Street Stage in the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center Friday February 22 & Saturday February 23, 2019 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at thalian.org, she-rocks.org or 910-251-1788.
