Dad Bods strut their stuff to find a cure for Duchenne
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Earlier in the week we told you about the Dad Bod Strut. It’s a beauty pageant for chubby guys, as Wally Simpson explained.
Wally’s son David, or “Super Dave,” was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy three years ago when he was nine. Duchenne does not have a cure, so the Dad Bod Strut raised funds for research.
“The driving force behind this fundraiser is hope to parents who are newly diagnosed. Hoping that we can find a cure together and also hoping that we can lend support to those who think they’re in this world alone,” said Super Dave’s mom, Louise Simpson.
Tim Bagnell, one of the contestants thinks this is a better way to raise money than just donating a check. “I think it gets more people involved. It’s fun. It’s a good way to support and get the word out there instead of just donating money,” said Tim.
