Powerball jackpot climbs to $643 million

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — Powerball players in North Carolina and across the country have their eyes on a $643 million jackpot up for grabs in Wednesday night’s drawing.
A lucky winner could claim the prize as a $643 million annuity or take home $290.6 million in cash, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery. It’s the largest Powerball jackpot since April 2024.
“When players see big jackpots like tonight’s Powerball drawing, they start to dream about how their lives would change if they win,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery, in a news release. “Good luck to all North Carolinians who are playing for the big prize tonight.”
The lottery shared how Powerball sales benefit education in the state:
-
24,718: The total number of winning tickets in Monday’s Powerball drawing in North Carolina.
-
$11.7 million: The estimated amount raised for education in the state during the current jackpot run.
Powerball has now gone 34 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. The odds of hitting the jackpot remain steep — about 1 in 292 million.
Tickets can be purchased at lottery retailers statewide or through Online Play at www.nclottery.com.
