Tractor trailer overturned in collision with train near State Port

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A train collided with a tractor trailer early Monday morning, overturning the cement truck near the State Port’s North Gate.

The Wilmington Fire Department responded just before 8:00 a.m. and worked to free the driver of the tractor trailer who was pinned in.

The driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Port of Wilmington’s North Gate will remain closed today, while crews work to clear the damaged truck.

All commercial truck traffic is being redirected to the South Gate during this closure.
