Vehicle fire closes lanes on US 17 near Belville

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A vehicle fire temporarily shut down left lanes of traffic along U.S. 17 northbound near N.C. 133 in Brunswick County Thursday morning, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Two of the three northbound lanes were closed just after 8 a.m. as crews responded to the fire. The closures are expected to cause heavy delays for morning commuters traveling through the area.

Traffic impacts are considered high, with the left lanes shut down for about an hour. All lanes are expected to reopen around 9:15 a.m.

No word on any injuries at this time.
