WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating after shots were fired at a motorcyclist Sunday night on Oleander Drive.

Officers were dispatched around 8 p.m. to the 5400 block of Oleander Drive after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire. Police say the victim had just completed a U-turn in a nearby parking area when a vehicle pulled in front of him. Someone inside the vehicle then fired several rounds at close range.

The victim was not hit, but bullets struck the front door of a nearby business, shattering the glass. Police say the motorcyclist ran into a nearby parking lot for safety while the suspect drove away on Oleander Drive.

Officers recovered evidence at the scene and obtained video footage of the incident.
