New State Highway Patrol Office opens in Belville

BRUNSWICK, NC (WWAY) — There was a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning in Belville for the opening of a new State Highway Patrol Office at the old town hall on River Road.

State and local leaders attending the ceremony gave particular credit for the move to the late Mayor of Belville, Mike Allen, who died in July.

Colonel Freddy Johnson Jr. with the highway patrol is happy the move finally came to fruition.

“We’re just so grateful to the community of Belville for helping us get here, and I’m so grateful that Mayor Mike Allen’s son, Jason, was with us today to represent his dad. We knew that Mike is, he’s looking down today and smiling to see that this thing finally came to fruition and we were just grateful to have this service today,” said Johnson.

To give the highway patrol the space, Belville relocated its town hall to a new space in Waterford Village Shoppes off Highway 17.
