Chadbourn Police investigating deadly domestic shooting

CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — One man is dead and another critically injured following a domestic shooting in Chadbourn.

Mayor Phillip Britt said officers responded to the 700 block of Clark Street just before 11:30 Monday night after a 911 call reported a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Britt said the incident involved a son and his stepfather. One of the men, identified as Nathan McKinnies, died at the scene. The other man was taken to Novant Health in Wilmington in critical condition.

The name of the surviving victim has not yet been released.

Chadbourn Police are working with the District Attorney’s Office to review evidence and determine whether charges will be filed.
