Town of Burgaw announces groundbreaking of Phase II of the Osgood Canal Greenway and Urban Trail

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Burgaw announces the groundbreaking of Phase II of the Osgood Canal Greenway and Urban Trail Expansion Project.

According to the Town, this phase brings new features to enhance outdoor recreation on the west side of town, including:

• Outdoor fitness equipment, children’s climbing squares, and a turf sprint track -Now open to the public at Rotary Park.
• 2.2 miles of new sidewalk to improve pedestrian access and safety

Sidewalk installation will take place on Bridgers Street, Dudley Street, Ashe Street, McCullen Street, and Hayes Street.

Construction is scheduled to begin in October, those living within the trail project area may experience some temporary construction-related impacts.
