SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Two Southport businesses are closing their doors indefinitely following Saturday night’s deadly mass shooting.

American Fish Company and Frying Pan, both located along the city’s waterfront, announced the decision Sunday.

“Our hearts are broken, and our prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragedy,” the statement read. “American Fish Company and Frying Pan will be closed indefinitely as we grieve and seek healing together. God bless Southport.”

The announcement comes after authorities said a gunman opened fire from a boat at the American Fish Company, killing three people and injuring several others. The suspect, Nigel Max Edge of Oak Island, was arrested by the U.S. Coast Guard and charged with multiple counts of murder and attempted murder.
