Pedestrian struck and killed on North College Road early Sunday morning

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Wilmington.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call just after 1 a.m. about a pedestrian hit in the 400 block of North College Road. When first responders arrived, they found the victim and began to render aid, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the northbound lanes of North College Road for several hours while members of WPD’s Traffic Unit and Crime Scene Investigators conducted a thorough investigation.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
