Hoggard sweeps North Brunswick to claim Carolina Coast Conference title

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — What was expected for a while became official as Hoggard volleyball’s home sweep over North Brunswick on Tuesday clinched the Vikings the Carolina Coast Conference title outright.
The set scores were 25-20, 25-12, 25-16.
Ellie Keene led Hoggard with 11 kills while Rylie Howard added another ten.
“I think that just kind of gave us the push that we needed to go into the postseason tournament,” Howard said. “Knowing that we can win conference after last season. Obviously we still have the tournament next week, but having this win was good for us tonight. I think our team culture is really it. We love each other on and off the court. We want to win for each other. Obviously we go down in ruts where we play for each other, but 90-percent of the time we’re as a team, for each other all the time. So that’s it.”
A win over Ashley on Thursday would give Hoggard a perfect record in league play for the second time in three years.
The Carolina Coast Conference tournament begins Monday with Hoggard earning the right to host.
